AUDI REVIEWS |
| This German luxury manufacturer was founded in 1909, and then became a part of the Auto Union brand in 1932. The four linked rings that form Audi’s logo today represent the original members of the Auto Union: Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. With its factories devastated by WWII, Auto Union was split up, then reformed and was purchased by Volkswagen in 1964. The Audi name was reintroduced the next year. The brand came to prominence in the United States in the 1980s, impressing the racing world with its all-wheel drive rally cars and making the word “Quattro” a household name among performance enthusiasts. Less ostentatious than perennial rivals Mercedes and BMW, Audi has nonetheless proven in recent years it’s got star power, with Will Smith appearing at the wheel of an Audi concept car in the sci-fi thriller I, Robot. |

If the 2008 Audi TT were an entertainer, it would have a very dry sense of humor. The small sports-car class is full of exciting and flashy rides, but the TT is more reserved than class clowns like the Pontiac Solstice and BMW Z4 M. This is a more mature sports coupe, just as capable as any of its competitors but without quite as much flash. |

My passengers noticed right away that the 2008 Audi A8 was something special, even before the navigation screen powered itself up out of the dash and the pop-up Bang & Olufsen tweeters rose out of the instrument panel to offer concert-grade sound. |

The first thing you‘re going to think upon seeing the Audi A3 is that it‘s basically a Rabbit wearing an Audi suit. This is wrong. Though previous ‘premium compact‘ hatchback offerings from luxury manufacturers have tended to be downmarket versions of the larger cars, the A3 is a luxury car in its own right. |

At a glance, it‘s easy to assume that Audi‘s rugged, SUV-like allroad wagon has gotten a lot taller and smoother. Unfortunately for allroad fans, that‘s not the case; the high-stepping A6 wagon variant is no longer with us. This new high-roofed station wagon wearing the familiar interlocking rings on the grille is the all-new 2007 Audi Q7. |
