AUDI REVIEWS

This German luxury manufacturer was founded in 1909, and then became a part of the Auto Union brand in 1932. The four linked rings that form Audi’s logo today represent the original members of the Auto Union: Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. With its factories devastated by WWII, Auto Union was split up, then reformed and was purchased by Volkswagen in 1964. The Audi name was reintroduced the next year. The brand came to prominence in the United States in the 1980s, impressing the racing world with its all-wheel drive rally cars and making the word “Quattro” a household name among performance enthusiasts. Less ostentatious than perennial rivals Mercedes and BMW, Audi has nonetheless proven in recent years it’s got star power, with Will Smith appearing at the wheel of an Audi concept car in the sci-fi thriller I, Robot.
