SATURN REVIEWS

General Motors formed the Saturn division in 1985. It was big news, partly because Saturn was, at the time, the first all-new car company in decades, and partly because it was the General’s stated intent that Saturn would compete with imported cars head-on. The new brand made its mark with no-haggle pricing and fantastic customer service that kept buyers coming back even when the cars weren’t all that great. Saturn cultivated owner loyalty like no other manufacturer outside of perhaps Rolls-Royce, and the gambit paid off. As the first-time buyers who were happy with their compact SC1 and SC2 models returned, Saturn’s lineup expanded to offer larger and more luxurious vehicles for them to graduate into. The nameplate is now a vital part of GM’s lineup.

2009 Saturn Outlook Review

Saturn | 1/19/2009
2009 Saturn Outlook Review Without minivans in the lineup any more, you'd think that General Motors' various divisions would be seriously handicapped when it came to meeting the needs of customers with families, and that this omission would be especially painful for Saturn, whose position as a family-friendly brand focused primarily on cars all but requires the presence of a minivan in the lineup.

2009 Saturn Aura Review

Saturn | 1/2/2009
2009 Saturn Aura Review Saturn's latest family sedan steps up to the plate with the same seamless operation, quality and ease of driving as the leaders of the class. But will we forget that it exists?

2008 Saturn Astra Review

Saturn | 4/25/2008
2008 Saturn Astra Review When GM introduced the Saturn brand, it was tagged as a new kind of car company. Well, that new kind of car company now has a whole new showroom. Believe it or not, the oldest car in the Saturn lineup is now the Sky sports car. And the newest car in the lineup is the Astra (sort of), which went on sale in the U.S. in December of 2007.

2008 Saturn Vue Review

Saturn | 3/18/2008
2008 Saturn Vue Review For perhaps the first time, I found myself excited to be behind the wheel of a Saturn. The brand‘s habitual competent underachieving has made it something of an albatross around the neck of the average auto reviewer (ask one of us about the joys of testing the L-Series some time), but there‘s a new era dawning over at General Motors‘ youngest car brand. The all-new Aura is an...

2007 Saturn Outlook XR Review

Saturn | 3/18/2008
2007 Saturn Outlook XR Review A surprising thing happened during the Saturn Outlook‘s stay with me: people wanted to know about it. On several occasions, passers-by stopped and asked me how I liked it, and what it was like. This happened in the parking lot at Lowe‘s, and in line for the recycling center, and at the car wash.

2007 Saturn Aura Review

Saturn | 9/7/2007
2007 Saturn Aura Review It was a dark and stormy night ... And while I‘ve always wanted to start a story that way, it really was a dark and stormy night. Rain was streaming out of the sky like a featured video on YouTube. Dashing out of the airport parking shuttle and loading my luggage, I hopped into the car, paid the rent on the space and got on my way.

2007 Saturn Sky Red Line Review

Saturn | 9/7/2007
2007 Saturn Sky Red Line Review Here‘s something we‘re expecting to say a lot in the next few years: this is like no Saturn you‘ve ever seen. As the brand undergoes a comprehensive rethinking, Saturn is taking bold steps into new markets as well as revamping its current entries.

2007 Saturn VUE Green Line Review

Saturn | 9/7/2007
2007 Saturn VUE Green Line Review Remember the ‘five speed‘ badges that used to appear on early compact cars, when having four forward gears was the norm? The Saturn VUE Green Line puts us in mind of those cars, because it‘s not hard to envision a future in which the VUE Green Line‘s ‘soft‘ hybrid system becomes something downright commonplace.

2006 Saturn Vue Red Line Review

Saturn | 9/6/2007
2006 Saturn Vue Red Line Review Saturn hasn‘t been known for building particularly effective performance cars at all, let alone performance SUVs. Something about a vehicle designed for going fast just seems to go against the brand‘s very nature.
